Special Education

Cabramatta Public School has one IM class and two IO/Autistic classes.  The IM class is for students in years 3-6 diagnosed with a mild intellectual delay. There can be a maximum of 18 students in this class with a teacher and school learning support officer (SLSO). The students in this class receive teaching based on their individual learning needs.

The two IO/Autistic classes can have a maximum of 8 students each. These classes have one teacher and one SLSO.

Outside these classrooms is a Safe Play Area to ensure the children’s special needs are catered for.

Access to the Special Education classes occurs at a regional level. Applications are processed via the school counsellor and the school’s learning support team (LST). These applications are sent to the regions disability placement panel which meets once every term. This panel recommends students for placement into these classes based on the applications received and the vacancies available.
